Right so it has been more than a little while since I updated this blog.
There are lots of contributing factors:
(1) I planed MONTHS and MONTHS ago – do you get the feeling it’s been MONTHS that I’ve been planning this? – to fold this blog into my main blog over at sparklyprettybriiiight.com, which is intended as my main author blog once I get it re-designed. I have grand plans of having a slick multi-tab blog that showcases my pop culture interests, my novel and any sundry pieces I write that may not fit into either category.
Of course, being a bear of limited IT brain, I need a very good friend who is a whiz with such things but getting together have proved to be ridiculously difficult. My main task this week is to finalise a date to get together, and get my grand vision converted into a flesh and blood reality … or the cyber equivalent thereof.
(2) My new job, which I love, involves a huge amount of writing. I am writing everything from cover stories on celebrities that I interview to trends in literature and publishing and having a ball doing it. However one unexpected side effect is that I am suffering from writing exhaustion. I never thought that was possible but when you write a 4000 word article followed by a 2000 word article, while trying to get a mound of other tasks done and keep your own blog updated, getting writing exhaustion actually makes sense.
What it’s meant though is that my grand plans to get a cover designed, manuscript converted to HTML and proofread have all come to naught because they pivot on me having one last shot at rewriting a few sections of the novel. I want that to happen but finding time is the great challenge.
Of course, unless I want to be bemoaning the non-publishing of my novel in 20 years – no thank you – I need to prioritise the time … and soon.
One good piece of news is that, unbidden and unexpected, I wrote an entirely new, far more punchy start to my novel this week. It’s had essentially the same beginning since I started writing it years ago, and while it’s not a bad beginning, it’s never been entirely to my satisfaction.
The new beginning, however, is punchy, hopefully draws you in straight away and captures more of the main character from the opening sentence rather than sentences in and that can only help get the interest of readers … hopefully!
Anyway, I plan to update far more regularly from hereon in and soon, and very soon, this blog will be merged into my other blog …
Yes – NERD ALERT! – ONE BLOG TO RULE THEM ALL.
You may now groan audibly if you want.
